Privacy Commissioner

The IP Act establishes Queensland’s Privacy Commissioner as a deputy to the Information Commissioner within the Office of the Information Commissioner. Queensland’s Privacy Commissioner is independent from the Queensland Government, and performs privacy oversight functions as delegated by the Information Commissioner.

The Privacy Commissioner, under delegation from the Information Commissioner, provides oversight and guidance in relation to the application of the IP Act in Queensland. This includes support and advisory functions for agencies and the community, such as targeted agency training, guidelines to help agencies apply the IP Act.
