Personal Information Amendment

Amendment applications under the Right to Information Act 2009

The RTI Act provides you with a right to amend personal information held by government after you’ve had access to the document, if you believe the personal information is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or misleading.

Before making a formal application, you should contact the relevant department or agency as agencies have a general obligation under the Queensland Privacy Principles (QPPs) in the Information Privacy Act 2009, to allow you to correct your personal information. The informal option will apply in most cases – for example, where you simply wish to update your current contact details. Agencies are required to assist people using informal options first.

However, if you wish to make a formal application to amend your personal information under the RTI Act, you can download the application form and submit your application by post, fax, email or in person.
