The Information Commissioner
The Office of the Information Commissioner is an independent body responsible for oversight of the administration of the Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy (IP) legislation in Queensland.
The Information Commissioner has responsibility for:
- conducting external reviews of RTI and IP decisions of agencies and Ministers
- monitoring and reporting on agencies’ compliance with the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act)
- publishing guidelines and advice for applying the legislation
The Right to Information Commissioner and the Privacy Commissioner are deputies to the Information Commissioner. They may be delegated functions of the Information Commissioner under the RTI Act and IP Act. For more information visit the website of the Office of the Information Commissioner.
