The Information Commissioner
The Office of the Information Commissioner is an independent body which is responsible for oversight of Right to Information in Queensland.
The Information Commissioner has responsibility for:
- conducting external reviews of RTI decisions of agencies and Ministers
- monitoring and reporting on agencies’ compliance with the RTI Act and the Information Privacy Act 2009 Act
- publishing guidelines and advice for applying the legislation
The RTI Act 2009 also establishes a new Right to Information Commissioner as a deputy to the Information Commissioner, who may be delegated functions of the Information Commissioner under the RTI Act 2009.
